Nottingham Blue Carpet Run-Bike-Run Challenge

On Saturday 15 June, the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay Nottingham welcomes the world’s top triathletes to the city as they compete for valuable Tokyo 2020 qualification points. To celebrate, local children are invited the day before to meet the athletes and have a go at their own exciting run-bike-run challenge on the famous blue carpet of the elite course!
This GO TRI event, delivered by the Triathlon Trust with Nottingham City Council and Active Notts, is a fun, FREE and inclusive way for children in Years 4-6 to experience triathlon.
All the equipment required to participate is provided, including static bikes, and every child receives a certificate when they run down the Blue Carpet and cross the finish line! The event is suitable for children of all abilities in Years 4- 6, even those that do not ride a bike or may need additional support for physical disabilities or special educational needs. We provide all the equipment required to take part, our static bikes mounted on turbo trainers are suitable both for children that can or cannot ride a bike and because our bikes are static helmets are not required. and every child receives a memento for taking part. We encourage schools to bring your whole class(es), not just your 'sporty' pupils.
To book: Book online - please book groups in multiples of 30, up to a maximum of 90 children (i.e. 30, 60 or 90 children per booking). Places for this event are allocated on a first come first served basis.
On Saturday 15 June, the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relay Nottingham will welcome triathlon stars from around the globe to Victoria Embankment. Thousands of spectators will be entertained by world-class action as the teams of two female and two male athletes swim, bike and run over ultra-short distances in the sport’s newest Olympic discipline of mixed relay.
There’s plenty of free to participate activities for your pupils and their families to do during the day in the Activity Zone of the Event Village before being inspired by the Tokyo 2020 qualification race from 4pm.
To be at the very heart of the action, grandstand tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at Nottingham.triathlon.org. The event also has free-to-view spectating areas.
