A round-up of the year's highlights and achievements at the Tri Trust
What a year 2018 has been! We've been flat out working to change lives through triathlon and now we have great pleasure in looking back over the successes of the past year! In 2018 the Triathlon Trust has delivered over 30,000 Active Days for children and families across the country, a staggering figure that we are incredibly proud of and excited to build on in 2019.
Some of our other highlights include becoming the proud owners of a new fleet of Cuda bikes in February, thanks to Moore Large. These have helped us provide our various events and have proved to be reliable, robust and lightweight, all of which are important for bikes which are ridden by children of all ages and which have covered more than 48,500km this year!
Earlier this year we announced a new partnership with the Co-op, promoting Healthy Choices with the first event held in Staffordshire in June where children of all abilities, including those with physical disabilities and special educational needs, took part in a mini-triathlon followed by a Healthy Choices workshop with the Co-op.
With the support of Accenture, we gave 350 local schoolchildren the opportunity to be a part of the Accenture World Triathlon Mixed Relays in Nottingham with their own bike-run blue carpet challenge. After cheering on the international elite teams on their bike course familiarisation, they all crossed the finish line to be awarded with a medal by the legend himself, Robin Hood.
We've also had a great time delivering our Space to Earth Challenge in schools across the country, as well as on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.
And last but by no means least, we couldn't round up the year's highlights without mentioning our ambassador Lauren Steadman. We've been glued to our TVs every Saturday evening, supporting Lauren as she takes on the Strictly Come Dancing challenge. We've been wowed by her waltz and enchanted by her cha, cha, cha!
None of this would have been possible without our volunteers, our fundraisers, donors, corporate supporters and sponsors. So thank you to everyone who has supported the Triathlon Trust in 2018, and we look forward to a successful and busy 2019 changing lives through triathlon!
